Good News!

  • God loves you! He made you! He created you to be like Him, to love Him and to be holy (to live right).

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us,
Ephesians 2:4 (ESV)

See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
1 John 3:1 (ESV)

For God has not called us for impurity, but in holiness.
1 Thessalonians 4:7 (ESV)

  • BUT, there’s a problem. We don’t love God. We choose ourselves over Him. God calls that sin.

The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, they do abominable deeds, there is none who does good. The LORD looks down from heaven on the children of man, to see if there are any who understand, who seek after God. They have all turned aside; together they have become corrupt; there is none who does good, not even one.
Psalm 14:1-3 (ESV)

For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God
Romans 3:23 (ESV)

  • That sin has made us bent and broken people. Our sin has made us dead, unable to even call out to Him on our own.

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 6:23 (ESV)

And you were dead in the trespasses and sins
Ephesians 2:1 (ESV)

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth.
Romans 1:18 (ESV)

  • But He still loves us. He loves us so much that He sent His own Son to die on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin. He offers us the chance to be alive again, to be able to love Him, to be able to live right. He offers us forgiveness.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
John 3:16-18 (ESV)

But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Romans 5:8 (ESV)

God promises that if we

    • BELIEVE in Jesus,

    • ACCEPT his offer of forgiveness,

    • REPENT of our sin, and

    • CONFESS Him as Lord,

He will make us new, living creatures and will adopt us as His children. These are not separate steps, but rather all needed aspects of coming to Christ.

And such were some of you. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
1 Corinthians 6:11 (ESV)

But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4-6 (ESV)

Repent therefore, and turn back, that your sins may be blotted out,
Acts 3:19 (ESV)

Because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Romans 10:9 (ESV)

Jesus answered him, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him.
John 14:23 (ESV)

Repentance means to be sorry for your sin, so sorry that you want to change. It doesn’t mean “trying to do better” or earning your way to God.

Confessing Jesus as Lord means to agree with Him that He IS Lord and accept His leadership over your life.

There may be some reading this who have not trusted Christ yet. If He is calling you today, I humbly, earnestly beg you to answer Him now. If you would like to know the peace that comes from salvation, repeat this prayer to God:

“Heavenly Father; thank you for loving me. I know that I have sinned and desperately need you. Forgive me, Lord. Please come into my heart and my life and take control. Amen.”

If you have made a decision to trust and receive Jesus, please take a moment and let me know. I would count it an honor to help you on your journey to know Him:
