Teach and reinforce to trainee the safe driving principles of Smith System.

 State that always following Smith System keys significantly reduces chances of involvement in a crash.

It must be used on the road as well as off road locations such as customers and truck stops.

 Trainee received Smith System training when hired. Ask trainee to review 5 Smith System keys and what’s included in each key:

 

KEY #1 AIM HIGH IN STEERING

KEY #2 GET THE BIG PICTURE

KEY #3 KEEP YOUR EYES MOVING

KEY #4 LEAVE YOURSELF AN OUT

KEY #5 MAKE SURE THEY SEE YOU

 

Repeat until trainee has memorized 5 keys
